The Challenges

Bus Depot Efficiency

Egged’s tens of bus depots are where buses start and end their daily journeys, get refueled or recharged, cleaned, inspected, secured, and maintained (either lightly or in an on-site or adjacent workshop facility). The efficiency, safety, and innovation within depots directly affect operational costs, vehicle availability, and the quality-of-service passengers experience the following day.

Note: please do NOT submit software solutions for depot/charging management systems.

What are

we looking for?

Solutions that can transform depot operations in areas such as:

1. Parking optimization: efficient space utilization, accident prevention tools for parking/departure, and driver-assist systems (only as a retrofit/aftermarket solution).

2. Fueling and charging efficiency: faster, safer, and more innovative processes for fueling and wired electric charging (excluding wireless charging).

3. Security: tools and systems that prevent sabotage and theft of equipment and fuel.

4. Safety: improved fire prevention, early hazard detection, and worker safety measures.

5. Conditions monitoring: real-time detection of vehicle failures such as tire pressure issues, fluid leaks, or other defects.

6. Informative signage & displays: for clearer monitoring, easy operations, instructions for depot staff and drivers.

7. Maximizing bus idle time: creative ways to utilize these stationary assets (outside of transport services).
